Terry Dannels

Terry Ray Dannels, age 66 of Grove, passed away at 10:52 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK after a courageous battle with cancer.

Terry was born in Joplin, MO on March 11, 1953 to the union of Leslie J. Dannels and Betty J. (Strickland) Dannels. He attended Riverton High School, graduating with the Class of 1971. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1971-1975. He was assigned to the USS Mullinix during its time in the Mediterranean Sea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Miami, OK. His work history includes time at B.F. Goodrich, but he spent the majority of his career working as a Truck Driver for Yellow Freight, now “Y.R.C.”, and participating in the Local Teamsters Union, retiring just two years ago. He always loved being outdoors, either mowing or working on one of his many building projects.

Terry was united in marriage with Glenda Kaye (Sherwood) Dannels on August 20, 1976 at the Cherry Grove Church in Quapaw, OK. They had spent the majority of their married life living in Grove, OK, moving there from Miami, OK. She survives.








Additional survivors include his mother, Betty J. Dannels of Galena, KS; two sons, Leslie “Slade” Dannels (wife, Angela) of Choteau, OK, and Beau Brandon Dannels (wife, Bobbie) of Grove; two brothers, Greg Dannels (wife, Nancy) of Durant, OK, and Mark Dannels of Galena; one sister, Brenda Zellmer of Riverton, KS; 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie J. Dannels; and one step-son, Darrin Horton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Riverton House of Prayer. Pastors Audie Tash and Jeff Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Leslie Slade Dannels, Beau Dannels, Cody Horton, Earl Sherwood, J.J. Dannels, and Gary Keller, with Mark Dannels, Greg Dannels, Brenda Zellmer, and Shad Lakford as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Seneca Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.
