Sherrie Coltrain

Sherrie A. Coltrain, 70, of Parsons, passed away at 2:29 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Labette Health Emergency Room in Parsons

She was born on March 15, 1949 at Neodesha, Kansas to William J. and Aileen M. (Koyl) Coltrain. Sherrie grew up at Neodesha and attended Neodesha schools graduating from Neodesha High School in 1967. She attended and graduated from the Independence Beauty School in 1968.

Sherrie then moved to Parsons where she started her career in cosmetology and worked at the Professional Beauty Salon. She then moved to Iola where she was an instructor at the Iola Beauty College for four years. She returned to Parsons where she eventually purchased the Professional Beauty Salon. In 1985 the salon merged with Studio One Hair Fashions where she worked until her retirement in February of 2015. She was a member of the Kansas Cosmetology Association where she served as President. She was also a member of the Kansas Hair Fashion Committee where she served as chairman.










Sherrie was a devoted and faithful member of the First Christian Church of Parsons. She served the church as a deacon and elder. She has also been the Christian Education Director, Sunday School Teacher, and served on several other committees. Sherrie was a huge advocate for children’s ministries. She directed and counseled a number of church camps. She was also on the church regional camping board when they chose to purchase the Christian Hills Camp.

Sherrie loved her family dearly and loved to organize family reunions as well as class reunions. She loved her all of her customers and clients and thought of them as her extended family.

Sherrie’s hobbies included reading, studying the Bible, spinning, crocheting, knitting, entertaining, and especially cooking. She loved to cook and share with others. She had an extensive collection of cookbooks as well as paper weights and “snow babies”.

She is survived by her brother, Morris “Bud” Coltrain, and his wife, Manicel of Olathe, KS, two sisters, Billie Jo Coltrain of Parsons and Margaret McNally of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Jackson Coltrain.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the First Christian Church with The Reverend Laurie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 5:30-7p.m. Tuesday evening. Anne Cox

Anne B Cox, age 85, passed away at 11:52 am, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Galena Nursing Center, following an illness.

Anne was born July 1, 1933 in Galena, KS. Her parents were Harvey J and Bessie Mae (Huffman) Watson. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.

She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1951. She then completed some courses at the Apostolic Faith Bible College, Baxter Springs, KS. As a young lady, she worked at Vogel’s Ben Franklin Store in Galena. She retired after working several years in the laundry department at Galena Manor.

She was a long-time member of Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS where she taught the children’s Sunday school class. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She enjoyed cooking, and sewing where she made blankets and clothing, and reading her Bible. She was a wonderful homemaker, caring for her kids, grandkids, and neighborhood children.

Anne was married to William D “Bill” Cox on August 2, 1952 in Columbus, KS. He passed away April 21, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Grace Poelma, Lyla Asbell, and Marie Arehart, and one brother, Harvey Watson Jr.








Surviving are 4 sons, Duane Cox (wife, Pam), West Milton, OH, Bryan Cox (wife, Donna) Galena, Kevin Cox (wife, Carla) Galena, and Kyle Cox (wife, Tammy), Columbus, KS; one daughter, Sheryl Robinson (husband, Jimmy) Galena; 2 brothers, Henry Watson (wife, Elaine) Frontenac, KS, and Homer Watson (wife, Debbie) San Antonio, TX; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS. Joel Dorris will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.

Frankie Stotler

Frankie D. Stotler 85, of Frontenac, KS died 4:15pm Wednesday May 29, 2019 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following a short illness.

Frankie was born December 7, 1933 in Lamar, MO the daughter of Frank and Mary (Vender) Perona. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Mulberry High School. She later attended Pittsburg State University. 

On July 28, 1991 Frankie married Parker Stotler in Frontenac, KS; he preceded her in death on January 15, 2010. Frankie worked for 38 years as a Purchasing Agent for Atkinson Industries in Pittsburg, KS. She was of the Catholic Faith; she loved her dog Sassy, golfing, cooking, gardening, spending time at the lake and driving around in her early years in her Mercedes Benz with the convertible top down. Family and friends were the most important thing in her life. 








Survivors include her children Rose Mary Smith of Franklin, KS, Terri Merando of Frontenac, KS, Donna Park-Moore of Weir, KS, Jeff Park of Pittsburg, KS, Michael Stotler and wife Connie of Henderson, NV, Brian Stotler and wife Jeanie of Sandy, UT, Shelley Stotler of San Fidel, NM, Lori Stotler of Pittsburg, KS, Lisa Stotler Chester and husband Clifford of Pittsburg, KS; daughter in law Rose Ann Smith of Frontenac, KS; grandchildren Billy Smith and partner Tim Schunk, Brian Hamm, Glenn Harrison, Jimmy Weber, Michela Smith, Derek Merando, Francesca Fleming; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Frankie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Finis Bill Smith and Donald R. Park, son Bill Smith, sister Helen Hamm and one grandchild Marisa Stotler.

Bernadine Shively

Bernadine F. Shively, 95, of Girard, died at 7:54 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2019 at Aldersgate Homecare Plus in Topeka.

Bernadine was born November 2, 1923 at Greenbush, Kansas, a daughter of Bernard and Helen (Marnell) Titmus. She attended Kavanaugh School in Crawford County and graduated from Walnut High School in Walnut, Kansas in 1941.

She married Edward E. Shively on November 23, 1944 at St. Mary Cathedral in Galveston, Texas. Edward preceded her in death on March 18, 1996.

Bernadine worked in Berkley, California, Kansas City, and for over 25 years in construction planning at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas before retiring in 1989. 

Bernadine was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Girard and the Altar Society, the SEK Doll Club, Girard Garden Club, the Ladies Auxiliary at the Gard Lee Post No. 292, American Legion in Walnut, Red Hat Club, and a lifetime member of DAV of Pittsburg. She enjoyed quilting and making homemade cards.

Survivors are her sons, Wayne E. Shively, and his wife, Sue, of Erie, Keith Shively, and his wife, Becky, of Girard; her daughters, Lorraine J. Eggan, and her husband, Keith, of Topeka and Frances E. Simmons, and her husband, Stan, of Topeka; her daughters-in-law Janice Shively of Claremore, Oklahoma and Annette Shively of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; her sisters, Helen Brodbeck of Girard and Patricia Ball of Chicopee, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.








She was preceded in death by her sons, Bernard D. Shively and Kenneth Shively; a brother, Frank Titmus; her sisters, Geneva McGown and Margaret Pototschik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Girard with Fr. Floyd McKinney as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Walnut.

The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Hayden Creech

Hayden Olivia Creech daughter of Whyatt and Kristina Creech (Black) was stillborn on Monday, May 13th, 2019.

She leaves behind a brother, Grayson Creech and her Twin sister, Hadley Creech. Hayden is loved by so many people she never got to meet- her Grandparents- Mickey Black, Jack and Lisa Black, all of Baxter Springs. Janet and Shane Creech of Fair Grove, MO, as well as her great grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.







Hayden, though born silent, left such an imprint on our hearts. She is loved, she is missed and she will be remembered. 

Hayden has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Baxter Springs, KS for cremation. There are no services planned at this time.

Raymond Feugate

Raymond C. Feugate, 81, of Girard, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1938 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a son of Jesse and Elizabeth (Gates) Feugate. He grew up and attended schools in Pittsburg.

He married Evelyn Horton on March 20, 1958 at Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2010.

He owned and operated Pop’s Bar in Girard from 1982 until 1985.

Raymond was a member of the Chief Black Dog Muzzle Loaders Club in Oswego, Kansas.








Survivors are his sons, Tom Feugate, and his wife, Melinda, of Summerdale, Alabama, John Feugate, and his companion, Jill McClintick, of Parsons, Kansas, and Frank Feugate of Winfield, Kansas; his daughters, Beth Harris, and her husband, Bobby, of Prosperity, South Carolina and Colletta Sport, and her husband, Cletus, of Wheatland, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Jerry and Jeffrey Feugate.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the Farlington Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Friday.

Robert Bledsoe

Robert D. Bledsoe, age 76, resident of Ft. Scott, KS, died Monday, May 27, 2019, at Girard Medical Center, Girard, KS. He was born July 26, 1942, in Happy Hill, MO, the son of Henry Leslie and Nettie Mae Wyrick Bledsoe. 

Robert was a welder throughout his working career. He married Lillian Mae See on March 9, 1984, in Wichita, KS. He enjoyed NASCAR and watching pro football, especially the New England Patriots. Robert was caring and always willing to help people in need. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Lillian of the home; two brothers, Howard Bledsoe and wife Carol, Dubois, PA, and Amos Bledsoe and wife Gayle, Salem, AR; 3 step-daughters, Tina Cooper and husband Bill, Wichita, KS, Monica Thill, Wichita, KS, and Kimberly Keplar, Augusta, KS; 8 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 








He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Bledsoe; 4 brothers, Leslie Lee, Don, Raymond, and Gary Bledsoe; 2 sisters, Violet Carol and Beulah Smith; and his parents.

There was cremation. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2:30 PM Tuesday, June 4th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Kathy Ginter

Kathleen Ruth “Kathy” Ginter, age 73, a resident of rural Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Medicalodge in Ft. Scott. She was born on August 9, 1945, at Washington, DC, the daughter of Robert Joseph Hannan and Ruth Evaline Morin Hannan.

Kathy married Larry Ginter on August 8, 1969, at Kansas City, Missouri. Larry and Kathy would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this August. Kathy had worked as an LPN for area doctors and also for Mercy Hospital where she worked in the Radiology Department. Later, she was employed as a guidance counselor for Tri-Valley Developmental Services. She was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Kathy enjoyed doing cross-stitch and knitting as well as reading. 








Survivors include her husband, Larry, of the home; a son, Peter Christopher “Pete” Ginter (Bonnie) of Jacksonville, Florida and two grandchildren, Austin and Marilyn. Also surviving is a sister, Maureen Dahnke, of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, June 3rd at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Larry Hauck

Larry Frances Hauck passed into eternity with Jesus, May 26th, 2019. Larry was born on August 2nd, 1946 to Frank and Ora Lee Hauck. After graduating from Beloit High School he attended Junior college and joined the Army serving as a medic. While in the Army he enlisted in Special Forces and qualified as a Sharp Shooter.

Larry received a bachelor’s degree at Emory University and practiced as a Physician’s Assistant. He later received his Masters Degree at PSU and became a Certified LPC. He worked at Crawford Mental Health Center for 21 years.

Larry’s love for Christ and his faith was strengthened by reading the Bible and attending the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church where he was a member for 27 years. His passion for serving the Lord and encouraging others to know Him as their personal savior gave him great joy. He also liked jogging, reading, dancing and spending time with family. 








Larry is survived by his loving wife Stacey, to whom he was married to for 27 years and his daughters Sherise (Shawn) Snider. Sara Hall, Tawnya (Kurt) Crowder and son Francis Ira Dylan Hauck, his brother Bob Hauck, Sister Anne Eller and six grandchildren; Seth, Mattie, Stevie, Bella, Corbin & Ashtyn. 

The Celebration of Life for Larry will be conducted by Pastor Daryl Gaddy on Friday May 31st at 10:30 AM at the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Pittsburg KS.

Jon Holt

Jon Wesley Holt, 74, of Columbus, passed away on May 26, 2019 at Mercy Hospital Columbus.

Jon was born to Wayne and Mary Holt on January 31, 1945. He went to school at Lone Elm School and graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School in 1962. While attending Cherokee County Rural High School he was President of the Future Farmers of America. He married Alice Janeski on June 28, 1969 in Girard.

He worked as a farmer most of his life and retired from farming in 2001. He opened Shawnee Creek Preserve around 1987 becoming actively involved in both 4-H shooting sports and became a hunter's education instructor in 1990 remained active until 2016.

He received the Order of the Buffalo award for services above and beyond the role of instructor in 2007, as well as, Instructor of the Year in 2007. He received an award of appreciation from 4-H shooting sports in 1999. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Jon enjoyed being out at the range with everyone, the farm, helping with 4-H Shooting Sports and his cats.








Jon is survived by his wife Alice, Sister Marva Holt, Mother Mary Holt, Sister in law Louise Hart, nephews Gerald Holt, Gale Holt, Gregg Holt and his wife Lori, 3 great nephews, 1 great niece, and 1 great great niece and nephew.

Jon is preceded in death by his father Wayne Holt, brother Gary Holt and a great niece.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, with Pastor Neal Anderson of Bethlehem Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Lone Elm Cemetery in Columbus. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6-7pm at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.

Teresa Fink

Teresa Kay (Roy) Fink, age 53, passed away at 2:18 pm, Tuesday, May 22, 2019 at Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, MO following a sudden illness.
Teresa was born June 8, 1965 in Lexington, MO. Her parents were Jimmy and Donna (Brown) Roy.

At the age of 9, Teresa gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the Sixth Street Baptist Church in Galena, KS.

She graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont KS in 1983. After graduation she attended Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, OK and Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS where she majored in music and theater. She performed in numerous musical stage productions.

She worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines and was currently employed as a family and community implementer for The Arc of the Ozarks, Springfield.








Surviving is one daughter, Kristen Fink, Cassville, MO; her mother, Donna Roy, Springfield; one brother, Stephen Roy (Jonetta), Arvada, CO, 2 sisters, Karen Bayard (Rene), Mililani, Hawaii, and Angela Johnson (Armando) Springfield,, and 3 grandchildren, Chloe Lannum, Conner Haney, and Logan Haney. She leaves a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Haney and her father, Jimmy Roy.

She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.

Warren Hazen

Warren E. Hazen, Sr., of Parsons, Kansas, died at 6:25 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2019 in the Prairie Mission Retirement Home in St. Paul, Kansas.

He was born February 2, 1926 in Erie, Kansas, a son of Roy E. and Gertrude L. (Pantle) Hazen. Warren grew up in the St. Paul and Erie areas.

He served in the US Army during W. W. ll.

Warren was a heavy equipment operator and worked for many years overseas for the Williams Brothers.

He married to Darlene Madl in 1944 and they divorced. He married Margie Ladage on October 7, 1955 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Warren was a member of the Parsons Lodge No. 117 AF & AM; the Fort Scott Consistory; the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg; the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons; the American Legion of Chanute.








Survivors, in addition to his wife, Margie, of the home, are his sons, Mark Hazen, and his companion, Candace, of St. Paul and Kerwin Hazen, and his wife, Chris, of Highlandville, Missouri; his daughters, Sharon Kennedy, and her husband, Paul, of St. Paul, Barbara Ann Nibarger, and her husband, Ted, of Grove, Oklahoma, and Marlene Sipp, and her companion, Richard, of St, Paul; a chosen great-grandson, Dillon, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his brothers, William “Bill” Hazen, and his wife, Rose, of Grove, Oklahoma and Bufford Hazen, and his wife, Pat, of Chanute, Kansas; his sisters, Arlene Thornton of Altamont, Kansas and Wilma Ward of Grove, Oklahoma and four, four legged faithful companions, Bonnie, Herb, Patty and Holly.

He was preceded in death a son, Warren Hazen, Jr.; his brothers, George Hazen and Richard Hazen; his sister, Verda Jean Hazen.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 31 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons, Kansas with Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Oswego Cemetery with Military Honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons.

Gene Allen

Gene A. Allen, 79, of Girard, died at 1:53 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his residence in Girard.
He was born October 12, 1939 in Cherokee, Kansas, a son of Clinton M. and Xenia (Marshall) Allen. He grew up at rural Cherokee and graduated from Crawford High School in Cherokee. He attended Vo-Tech school at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas.

He served in the US Air Force from August 1, 1957 until July 31, 1961.

Gene married Sharon Jean Norris on January 11, 1963 in Cherokee, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2002.

Gene worked as a manager in the feed plant at Producers Coop in Girard from 1963 until his retirement in 2002.

He enjoyed his family, fishing, bowling, and taking trips with Judy.








Survivors include his loving companion, Judy Lasley of Girard; his sons, Alden Allen, and his wife, Gena, of Girard and Rick Allen, and his wife, Christy, of Girard; his grandchildren, Kayla Wester, and her husband, Zach, Kevin Allen, and his fiancé, Alycia Endicott, and Travis Allen; his great-grandsons, Gene Allen and John Wester; his brother, James Allen, and his wife, Wilma, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Sunday until service time at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday and after noon on Sunday.

Reggie Noe

Reginald (Reggie) James Noe of Girard passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 19, 2019.

He was born on August 19, 1955, in Wichita to James E and Betty M (Kellogg) Noe.

Reggie followed in his Dad's footsteps with a career as a butcher for 43 years. A graduate of Girard High School. In his spare time, you would see him outside beautifying the yard or building another little shed for his equipment.

He is survived by his wife, Toni Stroud-Noe of the home.

Other survivors include his mother, 1 brother, 3 sisters, 6 children, 2 step children, and 18
grandchildren.

The children include Amy (Geoff) Haas and family of Knoxville TN; Chris (Lori) Noe and family of Walnut; Meredith (Daniel) Reed and family of Colorado Springs; Heather (Marshall) Webb and family of Marquette NE; Coty (Tatiana) Noe and family of Hays KS; Zachery Noe of Girard; Josh Stroud and family of Pittsburg; and James Stroud of Girard.

The brother and sisters include Rodney (Jene') Noe and family of St. Paul; Pam (Stuart) Kurdi of Marble Falls, TX; Janet (Kevin) O'Brien and family of Hepler; LaDonna (Pat) Whetzell and family of Farlington;

Preceded in death by his Dad, James (Jim) Noe; Brother, Mark Noe; maternal and paternal grandparents.

No formal services are planned at this time. The family asks that you please join them in a Celebration of Life on Friday, May 24th, from 2 pm to 6 pm at 517 N. 7 Hwy, Girard, Kansas.

Patty Pool

Patricia Alaine “Patty” Pool, age 68, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born March 31, 1951, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Henry Eugene “Gene” Floyd and Maxine Monroe Floyd.

Patty graduated from the Ft. Scott High School with the Class of 1969. She married Michael L. Pool on November 11, 1970, at Nevada, Missouri. In earlier years, Patty worked at several area banks. She later worked in the Bourbon County Vehicle Registration Office for over twenty-years. Patty enjoyed playing the violin and spending time with her grandchildren. 








Survivors include her husband, Mike, of the home; and two sons, Brian Pool (Jana) and Brent Pool (Tawny), all of Ft. Scott and five grandchildren; Laura, Ashleigh, Nash, Kellen and Evan. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl Floyd, of Overland Park, Kansas and Steve Floyd of Ft. Scott and two sisters, Lynette Jackson, of Ft. Scott and Bonnie George of Concordia, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 29th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery. Daniel Tirella

On May 20, 2019, Rev. Daniel P. Tirella, Sr. confidently stepped from this life into life eternal. "Pop Dan", as he was affectionately called, was born in Newark, New Jersey on October 14, 1926 to Vincent James Tirella and Carolina (Andriola).

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Rachel, of 58 years; a precious grandson, Thomas Marinelli; and his good friend and son-in-law, William John Flanagan. He was also predeceased by 6 brothers: Frank, Nicholas, James, William, David, and Emanuel, along with 9 sisters, Mildred (Godine), Anna (Amodio), Jane (Liaci), Rose (Maliwitz), Elizabeth (Lund), Mae (Hynes), Josie (Cagnina), Lucy (Rodice ) and Irene (Kaufman). 

Daniel was drafted into the Army and served in the Pacific Arena during World War II. He was employed by Public Service Electric and Gas Company of New Jersey for more than 40 years, until his retirement.

When Daniel was 28 years old, he decided to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He often said he never regretted that decision one day of his life. He also was an ordained minister and pastored the congregation of The Italian Christian Church in Newark, New Jersey for many years, serving and loving his congregants with all his heart. 

At 75, Pop Dan, along with his wife, was brave enough to relocate to Pittsburg, Kansas where he continued to preach, mentor, teach and encourage all he encountered. He loved to cook and bake. Pop Dan welcomed people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to sit at his table to enjoy great food and conversation. 








Daniel is survived by his children, Linda Flanagan of Pittsburg, KS, Kathy Marinelli of Pittsburg, KS, Jane Plympton (Ryan) of Forsyth, MT and Daniel P. Tirella, Jr. of Henderson, NV; 8 grandchildren: Joy Noga (Joseph), Nicole Dunham (Bob), Matthew Marinelli (Alisha), Patti Marinelli, Grace Tirella, Rachel Tirella, Geordan Kaderis and Josiah Kaderis and four great-grandchildren: Isaac, Josiah and Daniel Noga and Amarii Daniel Marinelli.

Wilma Salzman

Wilma N. Salzman, 77, of Girard, died at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019 at her residence in Girard.

She was born May 19, 1942 in Bonanza, Arkansas, the daughter of Oscar and Irene (Beam) Williams.

She attended Salinas Union High School in Salinas, California.

Wilma married Larry R. Salzman on March 5, 1960 at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. Larry preceded her in death on March 4, 2009.

They made their homes in Fort Ord, Fort Carson, Colorado, Germany, and Fort Bliss, Texas before moving to Girard in 1977.

Wilma was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Girard and she enjoyed her family, her church, and walking.








Survivors are her sons, Kevin Salzman and his wife, Judy, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Bryan Salzman, and his wife, Gale, of Midlothian, Texas, and Darrell Salzman, and his wife, Annette, of Springfield, Missouri; her granddaughter, Candace Salzman.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Craig Alan Salzman, on September 24, 1993, and her brother, Richard Williams.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Tom Lewis officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday.

Betty Townsend

Betty Townsend of Parsons died May 20, 2019 at home from complications of a stroke suffered on May 7. Her husband and sons were at her side.

Betty was born in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas in the 1940s at her uncle Marion’s gas station. Her mother died right after giving birth to Betty. Betty was raised from birth by her Uncle Marion C. and Aunt Laura Alice (Ayers) Danby of Wichita. Betty told her husband, Warren, many times that she was looking forward to meeting her birth Mother.

Betty grew up in Wichita and graduated from North High School in 1958. She attended Phillips University 2 years and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors’ Degree in Microbiology in 1962. She graduated from Wichita State University in 1969 with a Bachelors’ Degree in French and German Education. In 1979 she earned a Masters’ Degree in Special Education from Wichita State University.

Betty and Warren C. Townsend were married June 23, 1962 at the Fairview Christian Church in Wichita where they first met.

She was a perpetual student, a lifelong learner and self-taught Bible scholar and teacher. She volunteered at the Youth Crisis Center and played bridge three to four times weekly. She loved to cook. She was busy keeping her husband “in check” and had traveled extensively in the U.S.A., Europe and the Holy Land.

Her professional working career included being a medical technologist in Wichita, Neodesha and Independence, a German teacher, and a Special Education Teacher in public schools in Derby, Spearville, Wellington, and Belle Plaine. She was employed at the Kansas State Hospital and Training Centers in Winfield, Topeka and Parsons and finally as an employee of Class L.T.D. in Parsons, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed teaching and giving assistance to those in need of her caring.

In her early years Betty was a Girl Scout from 1948 to 1955. She worked with Boy Scouts from 1979 to 1992. She was a lifetime member of the National Education Association. Locally she was affiliated with Center Bethel Church, the First Christian Church, the First Presbyterian Church, and Mt. Zion Church of rural Cherryvale.








She is survived by her husband, Warren, of the home; two sons, Nelson Townsend and wife Melanie and their children Baird and Ky of Olathe, KS: Morgen Townsend and wife Shasta and their twins, a daughter Lydia and a son Chester of Rock Springs, WY; brother Robert “Bob” Danby and wife Chong of Las Vegas, NV; sister Mary Ann (Danby) Hesford and husband Ernie of Pulaski, NY; nieces Sabrina Hesford Pennellville, NY; Anna Hesford of Lacona, NY; and Margaret (Hesford) Blodgett and husband Tim of Orwell, NY; half-sisters Nancy (Danby) Forney and husband Bill of Lubbock, TX; Ila Kay (Danby) Crawford of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law Eddie Townsend and wife Karen of Alamogordo, NM; nephew Paul Townsend and wife Lori of Cheyenne, WY; niece Brenda (Townsend) McMillan of Cheyenne, WY; niece Connie (Townsend) Jonson and husband Lane of Carpenter, WY; nephew Eric Townsend of Cheyenne, WY; sister-in-law Mary Jane Townsend of Wichita; nephews Brent Townsend of Wichita, and Zach Townsend and wife Leigh of Littleton, CO; and many other family members and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her beloved uncle and aunt who raised her (Marion and Laura Alice Ayers Danby, her mother and father Noel and Anna Mae (Abraham) Danby, her step-mother Gladys Danby, a brother-in-law Loyd G. Townsend, sister-in-law Helen (Griffith) Townsend, and sister-in-law Jane (Oberg) Townsend.

The family will have a private burial at the Ross Cemetery near Neodesha. A Memorial Service is being planned for Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church of Parsons.

Shirley J. Siedhoff

Shirley J. Siedhoff of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on Thursday May 16, 2019, she was 88.

Shirley was born to Ernest C. and Netti (Lufkin) Arnold in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on July 1, 1930. She married George Siedhoff on September 13, 1950 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

She enjoyed looking for different recipes and cooking. Shirley also enjoyed crossword puzzles.










Shirley is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sharon Siedhoff; son, Stephen Siedhoff; granddaughter, Karol Sullens.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Sandra Casada and husband Joseph of Baxter Springs, KS; her son by heart, Bill Williamson and wife Vicky of Brenham, TX; 4 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Joan Greenfeather

Joan Greenfeather, 88, of Parsons passed away at 3:37 a.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

She was born on January 3, 1931 at rural Galesburg to Noble and Edith Pearl (Trabue) VanCleave. She grew up at rural Galesburg and attended Galesburg schools graduating from Galesburg High School.

Joan work in various secretarial and bookkeeping positions. She worked at Anchortite/Dayton Superior for over 26 years as a bookkeeper. She then worked at LaForge and Budd as an administrative assistant and finished her career as a bookkeeper at Day and Zimmerman retiring in the mid 1990’s.

She and William Thomas “Tom” Greenfeather were united in marriage on February 26, 1988 at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2018.

After she retired Joan took a painting class at Labette Community College and became an accomplished tole painter. Her husband had a woodworking business in their retirement years and she painted numerous projects in the business. Joan was also a fantastic cook and enjoyed fishing and sewing. She was an avid supporter of her husband’s and her family’s activities. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Parsons and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron.










Joan is survived by her son, Bill Greenfeather of Parsons; her daughter, Marilyn Murnan, and her husband, Larry of Parsons; her grandchildren, Michelle Hinkle of Ft. Worth, TX, Dale Greenfeather of Oklahoma City, OK, and Robert Murnan of Pittsburg, KS; six great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland and Melvin VanCleave and her sister, Melba VanCleave.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Reverend Phil Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pete Erle

Joe “Pete” Erie, age 82, a resident of rural Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, as the result of a fire at his home. He was born May 29, 1936, in Stotesbury, Missouri, the son of Henry John “Skeet” Erie and Winifred Marie Sheehy Erie.

Pete married Nina Lou Buck on September 9, 1956, at the Buck family home in Dadeville, Missouri. Pete was employed by Key Industries for twenty-three years. He later worked as maintenance supervisor for the U-234 School District for twenty-thee years. Pete was instrumental in founding the Bourbon County Rural Fire Department; he remained active with the fire department for many years. He also maintained his own cattle herd. 








Survivors include his son, John Erie, and wife, Terry, and his daughter, Sondra Ruhl, and husband, Nick, all of Ft. Scott; seven grandchildren, Brian Bolin, Ron Bolin (Brooke), Dawn Bryant (Micheal), Wendy Budd (David), John Erie, Jr. (Stephannie), Anita Vaugh (Daniel) and Bethany Thompson (Ray); and thirteen great-grandchildren, Codee Budd, Caden Bolin, Andy Bryant, Coree Budd, Aleana Erie, Dylann Bolin, Mia Bryant, Koby Erie, Alex Thompson, Raegan Bolin, Payton Bowling, Willow Vaughn, and Kanyon Vaugh with two more great-grandchildren on the way. Also surviving are two sisters, Peggy Cowan, of Ft. Scott, Pat Hoskins and husband, Frank, of Hillsboro, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Edna Erie, of Ft. Scott, and several nieces and nephews. 

His wife, Nina, preceded him in death on November 26, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mike Erie, and a brother-in-law, Gene Cowan.

Lisa Walker

Lisa Marie Walker 45, of Pittsburg, KS formally of Frontenac, KS died 7:55pm Wednesday May 15, 2019 at the Via Christi Village following an illness.

Lisa was born February 16, 1974 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Gene L. and Mary E. (Allen) Walker. Lisa was raised in Frontenac and was a graduate of Frontenac High School in 1992 were she was a member of the dance team. Following high school Lisa moved to Florida and worked for A. J. Hackett Bungee Company earning the title of Jump Master. She later moved to Tulsa working as a Customer Service Rep. for Tulsa Electric Company. 

Lisa was of the Christian Faith; loved bungee jumping, music, poetry, her family and friends were the most important thing in her life. 








Survivors include her siblings Jeanine Schettler and husband Michael of Girard, KS and Jeffrey Walker and wife Peggy of Girard, KS; nieces and nephews Nicolette Towne, Michaela Schettler, Hailey Schettler, Jessica Franklin, Amber Klepac, Kennedy Walker and Brandon Walker.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents.

Judith McCullough

Judith Ann McCullough, 76, of Pittsburg died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas, following a long illness.

She was born July 1, 1942, in Columbus, KS to Tom and Evelyn (Dixon) McCullough.

She graduated from Weir High School, class of 1960. Soon after high school, she married Paul J. Ross and had two children. They were married 15 years.

Judith was a homemaker for several years. She then worked in nursing facilities, home health care and medical billing. Judith enjoyed spending time with family and particularly her grandchildren. Following an early retirement, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s which progressively impacted her through passing. 








Additional survivors include a son, Tom Ross (wife Mardi) of Kansas City, a daughter, Tami Hurlbert (husband Mike) of Pittsburg; 5 grandchildren Kate and Mason Ross of Kansas City, and Roman, Makenzi and Karsyn Hurlbert of Pittsburg, and a niece and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2:00p.m at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS. Burial will follow at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral at 1:00 pm at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.

Harry Brunk

Harry Lee Brunk, 92, of Arma, died at 4:32 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Medicalodge of Pittsburg where he entered May 2.

He was born October 6, 1926 at rural Girard, a son of Arville and Lottie (Smart) Brunk.
Harry graduated from the Girard High School.

On June 18, 1950 Harry was united in marriage to Betty McVey in Fort Scott, Kansas, she survives of the home.

Harry was a lifelong grain and dairy farmer in the Girard and Arma area, he lived within five miles of his birthplace his entire life. He and Betty enjoyed square dancing. Harry loved his family; it was the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that put a sparkle in his eye.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in both Arma and Farlington and was a regular attendee of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a member of the Grange and Farm Bureau.








Survivors, in addition to his wife, are a son, Randy Brunk (Kimbra) of Arma; daughter, Pam Hockett (Denis) of Gardner and Sandy Vinardi of Pittsburg; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Boore of Girard.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Brunk, two sisters, Bernice Chiappetti and Mildred Nicoletti.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Rev. Jeff Swart officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

Jerry Lee Cox of Miami, OK passed from this life Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Quaker Hill Nursing Home in Lowell, KS. She was 83.

Jerry was born July 23, 1935 in Picher, OK to Thomas Dorral and Letha Eugenia (Higgins) Landreth. She had lived in Miami for several years moving from Picher, OK. She was a graduate of Picher – Cardin High School Class of 1953. Jerry was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church in Miami, OK and was a volunteer worker for the food pantry at the church. She was member of the Rebekah Lodge Picher and Miami and had worked as an EMT for Picher Fire Department.

Jerry married Chester Cox November 25, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded by her daughter Barbara Kay Nowlin in 1988, her parents, a brother Tom Landreth and a sister Emma Jean Ashe.







Survivors include 3 sons, Chester Lee Cox and wife Cherie of Houston, TX, Jimmy Cox and wife Lisa of Baxter Springs, KS and Mark Cox of Miami, OK, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Betty Duree of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at her home, she was 62 years old.

Betty was born in Miami, Oklahoma on October 27, 1956 to Sonny and Betty (Sanders) Wood. She was a Housekeeper for Higher Call Nursing Home in Quapaw, Oklahoma.

Betty has been entrusted to Derfelt Baxter Chapel for cremation. No services are planned at this time.

Treva Nunn

Treva Catherine (Smith) Nunn, of Baxter Springs, passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2019. She was born on February 17, 1920, in Galena, Kan., the seventh of nine children born to Fred and Clara (Keller) Smith.

Services are under the direction of Derfelt’s Chapel in Baxter Springs. Visitation will be at Derfelt’s on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m., with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Lowell Cemetery.

She was a lifelong area resident, and attended Riverton High School, where she met her future husband, Harold Edward Nunn. They were married January 23, 1937, for more than 70 years until Harold’s death on July 30, 2007. They had three children together: Donna Nunn-Matzeder, of Poquoson, Va., Jack H. Nunn (Susan Swannack-Nunn) of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Treva “Marie” Nunn-Allsup, of Farmington, N.M.

For the first half of their marriage, Treva was a homemaker while Harold worked for the Empire District Electric Company. They made their home in Riverton for most of their marriage. After Harold suffered a life-changing illness in1968, Treva took on many of the responsibilities of the home, and also began working at the Baxter Springs Hospital. Despite Harold’s illness, they enjoyed their golden years together, traveling abroad to Europe, and South America. Treva also traveled to the Holy Land and to Thailand to visit her “adopted” son and daughter and their family.

In addition to Harold, she is preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings. She is survived by her three children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friends from Thailand. She is also survived by her best friend and devoted companion, Margaret Pickering.

Treva was of the Baptist faith, as her father was a preacher. She spent decades supporting work in the mission fields, including supporting three generations of missionaries in southeast Asia. She taught Sunday School for over 60 years, including more than 30 years at Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs. Her class, the Willing Workers, was a special group of ladies. The Christmas parties at Treva’s home were an annual tradition for many years.

In addition to her Sunday School teaching and her support of missionaries, Treva was a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of Magnolia #158, O.E.S. She also served as a Den Mother for Boy Scouts, and was involved in 4-H and sewing clothes and Christmas stockings for family and friends.

The family would like to express our thanks to Mike Kauffman and her neighbors at the Baxter Springs Senior Living apartments for their care and concern with Treva throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation in Treva’s name to support the work of Christian missionaries in the mission fields.

Ken Wilkerson

Kenneth K. Wilkerson, 63 of rural Pittsburg, died Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home following a long illness.

He was born May 16, 1955 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Dewey Willard and Darlene V. (Gray) Wilkerson.

He graduated from PHS and then went on to PSU for 2 years.

On June 16, 1974 he was united in marriage to Karen E. McNeely in Pittsburg; she survives him of the home.

He worked at McNally’s in Pittsburg from 1974–1985, Roto-Rooter from 1986-1996 and then was the owner/operator of Ken Wilkerson Plumbing in Pittsburg. 

Ken was of the Christian faith. He was an avid hunter/fisherman and enjoyed working cattle and playing with the grandkids. 








Additional survivors include a daughter Buffy Lee Wilkerson and fiancé Bill Schlak of Michigan; a son Chris Wilkerson and wife Katherine of Frontenac; two brothers: Calvin W. Wilkerson of Durant, OK and Dale E. Wilkerson of Stillwater, OK, a sister Jo Carol Rhuems of Pittsburg along with six grandchildren Kasey Spielbusch, Sarah Spielbusch, Roy Spielbusch, Ashley Dawn Keeler, Adeline Lorraine Wilkerson and Jonathon Dewey Wilkerson and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry W. Wilkerson.

Graveside services will be 11 am Friday May 17, 2019 at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral home from 9am until 10:30am when the procession leaves for the cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Bill Lewis

Billy Ray Lewis, Sr., 80, of Galesburg, died at 2:30 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa.

He was born September 25, 1938 in Dennis, to C. C. Lewis and Pauline (Ringle) Lewis Lahey. He grew up in Parsons where he attended school, later finishing high school in Altamont.

On March 28, 1959 he married the love of his life and best friend DeEtta DeCow at the First Baptist Church in Parsons. They observed 60 years of marriage in March. They became the parents of three beautiful children.

Bill was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from July of 1959 until his retirement in July of 1992. He and DeEtta spent most of their early years with their children camping, attending Boy Scout events, fishing, water skiing and enjoying the little things of life. He loved horses and raising cattle.

Later in life their happiest times were when their grandkids were over fishing, learning to drive, farming and hosting family gatherings. “Grandpa” believed family was everything and life was too short to not enjoy every moment. He truly enjoyed laughter, jokes and listening to everyone’s life stories.








Survivors include his wife, DeEtta (DeCow) Lewis; children, Bill Lewis, Jr. and wife Tammy, of Galesburg and Paula Ballew and husband Don, of Independence; grandchildren, AJ Mattix and wife Kristie, Mike Anderson and wife Sam, DeEtta Drake and husband Rick, Shania Lewis and Billy Lewis III; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Hailey Mattix, Case Smith and Dalton Anderson; two brothers, Bob Lewis and wife Jane of Desert Hot Springs, CA and Jim Lahey of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Preceding him in death is his daughter, Teresa Kae Astbury, mother, Pauline Lahey and step-father, John Lahey.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Rev. Garrett Lahey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday until 8 p.m. at their convenience. Memorials are suggested to the Mirza Shrine for the benefit of Shriner’s Hospitals. Sharon Finley

Sharon Joan Finley, 77, of 1625 East Avenue, Baxter Springs, KS, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Quaker Hill Nursing Facility following a long illness.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Rev. Ken Finley of the home; two sons, Keith Finley of Wellington, KS, and Kris Finley and wife Monica of Leavenworth, KS; their three daughters, Britanna, Kaylin, and Braylin Finley.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Hoy. 








Ken and Sharon were married on March 25, 1966 in Springfield, MO. She taught kindergarten for several years and served as a minister’s wife and mother most of her life. She loved to sing and decorate.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the First Christian Church, Baxter Springs, KS. Sharon has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the worship ministry of the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home. Orin Eckhardt

Orin Lee Eckhardt, age 87 passed away Friday morning, May 10, 2019 at his home following an illness.

Orin was born September 14, 1931 in Sanford, KS. His parents were Orville and Margaret (Arnold) Eckhardt. He had lived in rural Galena most of his life.

He graduated from Columbus KS High School with the class of 1950. In 1950, he entered the U S Air Force during the Korean conflict and was discharged in 1954.

He worked as a bus driver for the Columbus School System for 19 years. He was also a self-employed farmer. He was a contract grower for Butterball Turkey until his retirement in 2000.

He was of the Christian faith. He was a past member of CCLIA and SEK Poultry Growers Assn where he served on numerous boards and committees. He also actively supported Cherokee County 4-H.

Orin was married to the love of his life, Shirley Ann Fletcher on November 9, 1952. She preceded him in death Feb 19, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and 7 brothers and sisters.








Surviving are three sons, Dennis Lee Eckhardt (wife, Sue) Columbus, Roy Shane Eckhardt (wife, Tammie), Galena, and Bart Shannon (wife, Jennifer) Galena; one brother, Virgil Eckhardt, Bentonville, AR; one sister, Alma Jessee, Galena; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Brandi, Kayla, Heather, and Shae; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, KS. Pastor Jim Bowles will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, rural Galena, KS under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Saddle Club in care of the funeral home.

Mary Longfellow

Mary Alice Longfellow, resident of Fort Scott, KS, died Friday morning, May 10, 2019, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO. She was born November 7, 1947, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Maurice and Jane Dunlap Tharp.

She married Daniel Longfellow on June 18, 1993. Together they enjoyed camping and spent one entire Summer reenacting the Old West era throughout Kansas. 

Mary worked as a CNA for Ottowa Retirement Village until her retirement. She was an all-around good person who will be greatly missed. 








Survivors include her husband Daniel of Ft. Scott; two daughters, Paula Christine Roadcap, Topeka, KS, and Sharon, Georgia; a stepson, Richard Longfellow, Ft. Scott; two sisters, Betty Jane White, Montana, and Donna Bea Nabus, Ft. Scott; four grandsons; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph William Dunlap, Ronald M. Tharp, and Lewis E. Tharp; a half-sister, Sharon Lee; and her parents.

Rev. Rod Hillhouse will conduct graveside services at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 15th, in the U. S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Friends may gather at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 9:45. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
