Mike Harrison

Mike C. Harrison, 74, of Parsons, died at 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons.

He was born June 4, 1945, in Oswego, to Herman F. and Maxine (Crum) Harrison. He grew up in Altamont and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1963. He graduated from Parsons Junior College and from Central State University at Edmond, Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in mortuary science.

Mike was employed several years at the Burris-Wall Funeral Home. He was an insurance salesman for Western-Southern Agency until 1989. Later employment included operating the 59 truck stop, Dual County Sanitation, Billman’s Trucking Co. and Elnickie Trucking Co.

He was an outgoing person and people person and enjoyed performing various jobs. For several years he was very active in the Parsons Jaycee organization. He coached his children in speed skating. In his youth he was baptized in the Methodist Church.

In January of 1968 he and Judy Michael were married at the McCune Methodist Church. Later they were divorced.








Surviving are two children, Scott Harrison (Dustee) of McCune and Crystal Riley (Rob) of Parsons; nine grandchildren, Talon Riley (Lindsey) of Overland Park, Shelby Riley, of Breckenridge, CO, Jensen Riley and Carsen Riley, both of Parsons; Jalen Merrell and Hartley Merrell, both of Pittsburg, Caitlyn Harrison, of Arma, Reagan Harrison of Pittsburg and Kaden Harrison of McCune; a great-grandson, Rhett Prince of Arma; a brother John Harrison (Karen) of Austin, TX.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carolyn Franks.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Aaron Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday.
