Ed Sutton

Edward L. “Ed” Sutton, Sr., 66, of Chetopa, passed away at 7:45 p.m., August 8, 2019 at his home in Chetopa. He had been in failing health.

He was born on January 5, 1953 at French Camp, California to Ive Nathaniel and Lois Luevina (Turpin) Sutton. He grew up at Stockton, California and attended Stockton schools. He moved to the Phoenix and Chandler, Arizona areas where he met his wife, Rose, and owned and operated a tire shop. He then moved back to Stockton where he also owned and operated a tire shop until his retirement in 2010 when he moved to Oswego, Kansas. He later moved to Chetopa.

Ed enjoyed country music, going to auctions, collecting tools, and going to horse races. He attended services at the Glory Barn Church in Parsons.

He and Rose Moore were united in marriage on October 18, 1969 at Nogales, Arizona. She survives of the home.

Ed is also survived by his sons, Edward Sutton Jr., and his wife, Pearl of Chetopa and Billy Sutton, and his wife, Wilma of Oswego; his daughter, Cindy Durnell, and her husband, Joseph of Valley Springs, CA; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother, Nathaniel Ray Sutton, and his wife, Brenda of Chetopa; and his sister, Tina Pitcock, and her husband, John of Chetopa. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastors Dale and Helen Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery.
