Haley R. Surber, 19, of Fredonia and formerly of Erie, passed away Monday evening from injuries sustained in car accident at HWY 400 and Harper Road at Fredonia. Among her survivors are her parents, Troy and Tracy Surber of Erie.
She was born on July 11, 2000 at Maumee, Ohio to Troy and Stephanie (Roberts) Surber. She grew up in Erie and attended Erie and Fredonia schools graduating from Fredonia High School in 2019.
Haley worked at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul and was currently working at the Fredonia Regional Medical Center as Certified Nurses Aide. She was passionate about caring for seniors.
While in high school she was active in cheerleading, school plays, FACS Club, the Yellow Ribbon Club, and the Kay Club, and multiple other activities. Haley loved cats, reading, and taking care of people.
She is survived by her parents, Troy and Tracy Surber of Erie; her paternal grandparents, Jim and Diane Surber of Ogallala, NE and Kathy Brownlee of Wheatland, WY; her maternal grandparents, Kenneth Kyser of Erie and Ray Riggs of Erie and Brenda Riggs, and her companion, Steve Kidwell of Independence, MO; her brothers, Colton Surber of Muleshoe, TX, Chase Freeman of Pittsburg, KS, Hunter Freeman or Erie, KS, Spencer Freeman of Gardner, KS, Cory Roberts of Lamar, Co, and Darien Campbell of Springfield, CO; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Stephanie Roberts and her paternal grandfather, Forest Brownlee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Galesburg Christian Church with Pastor Jim Frech officiating. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 7 to 8 Thursday evening.
