Debbie Faye (Basher) Smith, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Iola.
Debbie was born April 21, 1956 to Keith and Evelyn (Abbott) Basher in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She lived in North Dakota and also Colorado, but spent most of her years in Iola, KS. Debbie was self-employed as a caregiver, and loved cooking and quilting. She especially loved her dog "Shadow."
Surviving Debbie are her two children Jackson Smith (wife Amanda) of Valley Center, Kansas, and Connie Cosby (husband Jeff) of Colorado; five brothers Jerry Hanson of Colorado, Jim Basher of Iola, George Hanson (wife Jennifer) of Fredonia, KS, Johnny Basher of Iola, Joel Hanson (wife Linda) of Colorado; one sister Denise Hanson (spouse Joyce Bartu) of Aurora, Colorado; and three grandchildren Emmett Smith, and Ashley and Jaren Cosby.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, KS. No formal services are planned at this time, but per Debbie's wishes, the family will spread her ashes in Colorado at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial donation to your local Cancer Association of choice. Online condolences may be left for the family at derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
