Harold E. (Shorty) Norris, 89 of Girard passed away at 3:00 P.M., Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Medicalodge of Girard.
He was born April 12, 1931 in Walnut, Kansas a son of James and Leila (Inman) Norris.
He attended school in Walnut, graduating from the Walnut High School.
On May 8, 1951, Harold was united in marriage to Glenna Buckle at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2006.
Shorty was employed with the Sauers Department Store in Girard and later with the Producers Co-op of Girard/ He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Girard.
Shorty is survived by one daughter: Delilah Stahl-Nepote and husband Richard of Sunrise Beach, Missouri one brother; Raymond (Slim) Norris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one sister; Mildred (Cork) Birzer of Ellinwood, Kansas, one granddaughter; Tracey Henning and husband Jason of Olathe, Kansas and one great-granddaughter; Savannah Henning of Olathe.
In addition to his wife, Harold was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Private graveside services for Harold Edward Norris will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. The register book will be available to sign at the funeral home Tuesday between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 7:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice and these can be mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home at 518 W. St. John, P.O. Box 258, Girard, Kansas 66743.
