Harold Dean Jones, age 85, passed away Sunday April 12, 202 at Medicalodge, Columbus, KS following an illness.
Harold was born January 1, 1935 in rural Cherokee County, KS. His parents were George H and Bessie E (Newman) Jones. He was a lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
He graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1952. He was a farmer, retiring in 2006. Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, KS. He was also been a member of Gideons, and had been a board member of the Columbus COOP for a number of years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Parmele (husband, Richard), Columbus, and Barbara Chenault (husband, John) Kalamazoo, MI; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
His was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Dale Jones.
Viewing hours will be from 3:00 -8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, his graveside service will be live streamed on Derfelt Funeral Home facebook page at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from Oswego Cemetery, Oswego, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International in care of the funeral home.
