Claudia Cornell

Claudia C. Cornell, 68, of Parsons, passed away at 10:41 p.m., Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center at Kansas City, Kansas.

She was born on April 26, 1950 at Parsons, Kansas to Glenn Lee and Catherine Ellen (Newton) Cornell. She grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1968. Claudia then attended Labette Community College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Nursing. After successful completion of her nursing board exam she began her nursing career.

Claudia worked at Labette County Medical Center for many years as a Registered Nurse. She retired in 2013.

She enjoyed collecting basset hound and cat collectibles. She also was an animal lover and enjoyed nature. Claudia was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons.



She was on the reunion committee for the Parsons High School Class of 1968, a “Shrine Lady” of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, and belonged to a group of retired Labette County Medical Center nurses that met on a regular basis. She was also a regular donor to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter and to the Humane Society.

Claudia is survived by her companion, Keith Carr of Pittsburg; her brother, Dr. Earl Cornell, and his wife, Lorena of Tulsa, OK; her nieces and nephews, Max Cornell, and his wife, Molly of Shawnee, Sarah Grindel, and her husband, Neil of Shawnee, Jeff Johnson, and his wife, Sarah of Broken Arrow, OK, Amanda Johnson of Parsons, and Matthew Johnson of Stillwater, OK; great nieces and nephews, Isaac Cornell, Eleanor Cornell, Landon Grindel, Iris Cornell, Makenna Grindel, and Emma Johnson; several cousins including, Anita Harvey McDaniel & husband Tom, and their daughter & husband Amber & Todd Madl and son, Jackson; and her cat, Chloe. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pat McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery near Parsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time. Friends may call the funeral home at their convenience.
