Rusty Box

Albert L. “Rusty” Box, 65, rural Parsons, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Labette Health at 11:48 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born August 1, 1953, at Monett, MO, to Ronald W. and Kathryn Box. The family moved to Tulsa when he was three years old and he lived there until moving to Parsons in 2005. For thirty years he was employed by the Borden Dairy. In Parsons he worked a few years for Ruskin Manufacturing Co. until retiring on disability.

He and Dorthy Myers were married in Parsons on December 31, 2005 and she survives of the home. Rusty was a fun loving guy and enjoyed being in the out of doors.

Other survivors include two sons, Brent Box (Demetri) and Todd Box (Carla) both of Searcy, AR; two step-sons, Shane Bemis, of Brush Prairie, WA and Josh Ummel, of Nixa, MO; a step-daughter, Julie Dawn Gould, of Springfield, MO; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his mother, Kathryn Szewcryk, of Lake Jackson, TX; his step-mother, Shirley Box, of Tulsa, OK; a brother, Mike Box, of Aubrey, TX, a sister, Kathy Gibney, of Danbury, TX., several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, a daughter, Angela Halford and a son, Chris Box.

The service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Springhill Cemetery Patio, with Bill Ummel officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday.
