Donna Cruz

Donna Cruz, 64, of Parsons, died at 8:59 a.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the emergency room of Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born January 15, 1954, in Greensburg, to Raymond and Vida (Burnett) Carpenter. She grew up and graduated from Greensburg High School. She later attended Ft. Hays State College.

Donna came to Parsons in 1982. She and Jerry Cruz were married in Parsons on June 25, 1988. She had worked as a dispatcher for the Parsons Police Department and the Labette County Sheriff’s Office. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Her many interests included sewing, quilting, cross-stitching and making jewelry. She loved being with children and especially her grandson, Shane.
Donna is survived by her husband, Jerry; a son, Cameron, a daughter Shelby Cruz and a grandson, Shane, all of Parsons; two brothers, David Carpenter, of West Virginia and Gary Carpenter, of Newton; a sister, Lena Baugh, of Hillsboro and many members of the Cruz family.

Her parents preceded her in death. Her mother died November 25, one week before Donna’s passing.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the First Baptist Church, with Pastor Travis Ball officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday.
