Madeline Moutz

Madeline Carol Moutz, 79, of Chicopee, KS died at 10:06 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home. Madeline was born July 6, 1938 in Chicopee, KS to Ferdinando and Angelina (Cattelino) Scaramucci. She graduated from Crawford County Community High School, where she was crowned the Annual Queen in 1955 as a senior. Following high school, she graduated from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing.

On April 12, 1958, she married Rudolph “Rudy” Moutz at St. Barbara’s in Chicopee, KS. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2008. Madeline worked at Mt. Carmel in OB and helped move into the new hospital. She worked for Dr. Wood and Dr. Erikson. She also worked at SEK-CAP in head start for 30 years and the Crawford County Health Department. She was the first recipient of the Award in recognition of 30 years of outstanding efforts in Public Health Community Service as a Health Services Specialist for SEK-CAP Head Start, presented by Crawford County Health Department and Board of Health in 2008. She was a member of both Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Frontenac and Our Lady of Lourdes of Pittsburg, where she was a volunteer in each office and was active in both Altar Societies. She was a former member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Chicopee and worked at Our Lady of Lourdes goodwill.

Additional survivors include her son Scott A. Moutz of Chicopee, KS; a daughter Julie Jenkins of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Johnny Moutz of Girard, KS, Savannah VanTassel of Ocala, FL, Stephanie Robinson of Chicopee, KS, Asher Jenkins of Ocala, FL, Aaron Jenkins of Ocala, FL; 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, John F. Moutz, three sisters, Linda Ferneti, Maria Ferneti and Wilma Widner, a brother, Alfred Scaramucci and a nephew Casper Ferneti.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 7) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Stroot as celebrant. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and/or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
