Bill Carson

William A. “Bill” Carson, 96 of Pittsburg, KS died at 9:30am, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born July 11, 1921 in Irwin, PA the son of Robert and Christie (Wiek) Carson.
He graduated from Norwin School District in Irwin.

On Aug 3, 1942 he was inducted into the U.S. Army; he was honorably discharged March 16, 1946 attaining the Rank of sergeant. 

Bill was united in marriage to Violet Deane Woollen on July 23, 1948 in Wadsworth, KS; she preceded him in death on January 30, 2012.

He worked for Phillips 66 Petroleum Company for 25 years, he then went on to purchase a fuel distributorship where he owned and operated Carson Oil Company for many years.

He was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg; additional memberships include the Frontenac American Legion Post #43 and the Kansas Oil Marketers Association.
Survivors include three sons: Alan (Nancy) Carson of Lee’s Summit, MO, Kent (Lea) Carson of Fairland, OK and Marlin Carson of Frontenac, KS along with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother Bob Carson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Rev. Monte Shoemake officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Kansas Nurse Foundation in honor of Ellen Carson and/or the Weir Baptist Camp; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. 

Services are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS.
