Harold Napier, of Pittsburg, KS and Fairland, OK, passed away on December 27, 2017.
Mr. Napier was born November 2, 1932 to William O. and Tracie Bartello Napier. Over the course of his life, Harold held a variety of jobs. He worked as a truck driver for Harvest Brand, was the City Manager of Cherokee, KS, was a newspaper deliveryman for the Morning Sun with a route that covered the surrounding area and was the cemetery manager for both Mt. Olive and Highland Park Cemeteries, where he eventually retired. Harold also served three years in the US Army where he achieved the rank of E5-Sergeant and received an honorable discharge.
He married Jackie Ray Daniels Napier. Together they had one child, Beverly Jo Ellis. Harold later married Jane Murray and he adopted one child, Kevin Napier, and also had three stepchildren, Brian Murray, Brent Murray, and JoEllen Marquardt. They later divorced and remained friends for the remainder of his life. Harold also had a love for the lake. Although he couldn’t swim, he spent countless hours driving a boat around Grand Lake, teaching kids to water ski. One of his favorite things to do was run trotlines. Harold lived at many places around the Grand Lake area throughout his life. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Ellis, a son, Kevin Napier, two stepsons, one stepdaughter, five sisters, Ilene Turner, Wanda Endicott, Margaret McGuire, Tracie Miller, and Jeanie Culp, one brother, Allen Napier, five grandchildren, Dane, Nolan, Sabrina, Tommy, and Suzy, and many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jackie, two brothers, William (Bill) Napier and Vernon Napier, and a sister, Louise Arlent.
Mr. Napier requested no services and that he be cremated. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
