Bobbie Dean Brooks, 78, of Pittsburg, passed away at 1:20 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at Via Christi Village, Pittsburg.
He was born May 31, 1939, at Pittsburg, KS, the son of Lawrence and Goldie (Karnes) Brooks. On July 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Norma Fossman at Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2013. Mr. Brooks worked as a maintenance way for the Kansas City Southern Railroad before his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish and play fast pitch softball.
Mr. Brooks is survived by two sons, Dennis Brooks and his wife, Laurie of Pittsburg, KS, and Richard Brooks and his wife, Tami of Olathe, KS, three grandchildren, Bobby Brooks, Jessica Brooks and Jenny Brooks and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orval Brooks and Harold Brooks and one sister, Mildred Wolff.
A graveside service is set for 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, with Pastor Annie Ricker conducting the service. The family will receive friends before the service at the Brenner Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The casket will remain closed. The family suggests memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
