Bobby Kennett

Bobby D. Kennett, 76, of Pittsburg, passed away at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Via Christi Hospital. 

He was born December 19, 1940 at Pittsburg, the son of Willard Bruce and Lucille Ruth (Beckett) Kennett. He attended and graduated from College High School and attended Pittsburg State University. 

On September 15, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Rezen at Pittsburg. She survives at the family home. Mr. Kennett worked as a police officer for the Pittsburg Police Department. He then became an engineer for the Kansas City Southern Railroad until he retired. Membership was held in the Countryside Christian Church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. 

In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by a son, Steve Kennett and his wife, Jennifer of Olathe, Kansas; a daughter, Sherri Houfek and her husband Craig of Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Marge Rice and her husband, Dale of Opolis, Kansas; and five grandchildren, Kacey and Brett Kennett and Drew, Hunter and Hayli Houfek. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gale Wayne Kennett and Billy Gene Kennett and a sister, Janis L. Cronister. 

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday (Dec. 11) at the Brenner Mortuary with Dan Muter officiating. Scripture readings will be given by Bryce Hotchkiss. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. The family suggests memorials be given to Angels Among Us. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
