Ron Perez

Ron Perez, 66, of Parsons, passed away at 10:57 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Labette Health Emergency Room in Parsons. His death was unexpected.

He was born on October 8, 1953 at Parsons to Manuel and Dorothy (Meier) Perez. Ron grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1971.

Ron worked at the Baxter Springs Citizen Newspaper in 1971 to 1972, Dick’s Printing from 1972 to 1974, Southwest Carbon Paper from 1974 to 1979, Grandview Products from 1979 to 2007, and then at S.I./Wilbert from 2007 to 2019 from where he retired. He worked most of his career as an over the road truck driver.

Ron was a licensed private pilot and loved to fly. He also enjoyed making model airplanes, scuba diving and was certified, canoeing, kayaking, going on bike rides, motorcycles, trips to Mexico, going on vacations, and had an unconditional love for his family. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with his wife, Sonia.

He and Sonia Riojas were united in marriage on January 16, 1981 at Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.








In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Mario Perez of Sonoma County, CA; his daughter, Selena Perez, and her fiancé, Cole Reazin of Sonoma County, CA; three brothers, Daniel Perez, Brian Perez, and Martin Perez, and his wife, Shelley all of Parsons; two sisters, Melissa McKinley and her husband, Gary of Kansas City, KS and Rita Perez of Parsons; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Curtis Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at St. Patricks’ Church with the family receiving friends in the fellowship hall following the rosary.
