J. D. Brader

John D. “J.D.” Brader, 88, rural Parsons, died at 12:29 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

He was born December 12, 1931, in rural McCune, to John Dee and Emma Ann (Cook) Brader. He graduated from Labette County Community High School at Altamont in 1950.

On July 4, 1957 he and Shirley J. Garrett were married in Chetopa. They had lived in Chicago, St. Louis and Denver before returning to this area in 1966.

J. D. retired from the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant as an electrical lineman. He also farmed. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge and served in the U. S. Army Reserves in his early adult years. He had served as a board member of the A.S.C.S.








Surviving is his wife, Shirley, of the home; three sons, Jay Dee Brader (Kelly) of Broken Arrow, OK, David W. Brader (Kerin) of Leavenworth and Michael J. Brader (Libby) of Claremore, OK; six grandchildren, Brandi Stover, Breanda McConnell, Denton Brader, Kenzie Brader, McKayla Brader and Jonathan Brader; eight great-grandchildren and two special nieces.

Preceding him in death was an infant granddaughter, Katie Brader, a sister, Bernita Pressley and a half-brother Howard Brooks.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 9, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Garrett officiating. Burial, at a later date, will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
