June Rust

June Rust, 93, a longtime rural Parsons resident, died Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Wellsprings Care Home where she had lived the past year.

She was born in 1926 to Floyd and Magdalene (Murray) Bryant of Parsons. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1944.

After graduation, she worked at United Iron Works in Pittsburg as a draftsman, compiling costs and preparing bids. After WW II ended, she returned to Parsons. On September 1, 1946 she and Paul L. Rust were married in Parsons.

June was a homemaker as the family moved in 1951 to St. Joseph, Missouri, and then to rural Parsons in 1954.

In 1980, with the children out of the home, June returned to work at Labette County Hospital as a dietician, and later, cafeteria supervisor.

June participated at Center Bethel Church for many years.










Her husband, Paul, preceded her in death in December 2001. She is survived by her two children, Sharon Rust-Ryburn (Richard) of Norfolk, Virginia, and Timothy (Jill) of Wichita, Kansas, and her sister Betty Simmons of Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 1, 2020 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carson-Wall from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
