Wesley Worthington

Wesley Wallace Worthington, 86, of Frontenac, KS, went home to be with the Lord at 7:45 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Medicalodge of Frontenac.

He was born November 20, 1933, at Norfolk, NE, to William Wesley and Munsey Pauline (Koontz) Worthington.

Wesley attended Mound City Schools and graduated from Bob Jones Academy. He attended Bob Jones University. In 1956 Wesley was drafted in the United States Army and was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

On February 1957, he was united in marriage to Shirley West. They later divorced.

Wesley worked as a nursing home administrator following in his parent’s footsteps. He was the former mayor of Mound City and was a Nursing Home Lobbyist. Wesley enjoyed fishing, photography, magic tricks, snow skiing, a colloidal silver aficionado, and was a motorcycle and sports car enthusiast. He was of the Christian faith.








He is survived by four daughters, Jeanne Davidson and her husband Kenny of Frontenac, KS, Suzanne Hawkins and her husband Terry of Carl Junction, MO, Sherrie Johnson of Pleasanton, KS, and Janice Myers of Mound City, KS; two sisters, Toni Worthington of Mission, KS, and Judy Niedermeyer and her husband Phil of Grants Pass, OR; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Marshall, Jackson Johnson, Joel Herron, Kyle Herron, Megan Compton, Eric Pew, Janelle Pew, Weston Widner, Shea Widner, and Jacey Myers; and 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sharon Johnson, and a son-in-law, Stephen Ray Johnson.

According to Wesley’s wishes he has been cremated and a private family service will take place at a later date in the Spring Grove Quaker Cemetery in Lane, KS.
