Ruth Darlene Chubb, 91 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Ruth was born July 6, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to the union of Merlin K. and Mina “Polly” Kay (Housner) Arthur.
Ruth was united in marriage to Robert Chubb on August 26, 1949 in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2009. Ruth received her Bachelor’s Degree from Baker University. While at Baker University she was a member of the PHI MU Sorority. Ruth and Robert have lived in SE Kansas since 1952, moving from Kansas City. Ruth worked as a social worker for SRS for 30 years, retiring in the early 90’s. Ruth enjoyed toll painting and everyone loved her cooking.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jack “Bud” Arthur; sister, Mary Kay Day; Daughter-in-law, Jan Chubb; granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynch; special friend Gene Jackson.
Ruth is survived by daughter, Dana Lynch and Kent of Baxter Springs, KS; two sons, Gary Chubb and Kathy Mitchell of Lee’s Summit, MO, and David Chubb and Audrey of Galena, KS; sister, Alice MacPherson of Columbus, KS; four grandchildren, Taryn Chubb, Mark Chubb, Aaron Neet, and Carrie McInturff; along with six great grandchildren.
Ruth has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Baker University Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
