Cliff Smith

Rev. James Clifford “Cliff” Smith of Chetopa, KS passed from this life Monday, March 10, 2020 at Chetopa Manor in Chetopa, KS. He was 91.

Cliff was born December 20, 1928 in Crowder, OK to Milton and Minnie (Newberry) Smith. He had lived in Chetopa for the past 17 years moving from Columbus, KS. Cliff was a electrician for 45 years working for General Motors in Kansas City, MO. He had served as the minister at Keelville Pentecostal Church in Keelville, KS for 20 years. He was a member of the House of Prayer in Riverton, KS and served on the Board of Directors.

Cliff was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor Smith, his parents, 6 brothers Buster Smith, Andrew Smith, Milton Smith, Jr., Gilbert Smith, Leo Smith and J.E. Smith and 1 sister Bertha Hale.








Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn (Cross) Smith of the home, 2 sons Jim Smith and wife Johanna of Pennsville, IN and Wayne Smith and wife Sue of Branson West, MO, 1 daughter Betty Tash and husband Audie of Riverton, KS, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at the House of Prayer in Riverton, KS. Rev. Audie Tash will officiate. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
