John Noltensmeyer

John M. Noltensmeyer, 74, of Parsons, died Thursday afternoon at his home. Death was unexpected.

He was born July 2, 1945, at Springfield, MO to Milton H. and Marie E. (Thompson) Noltensmeyer. He grew up in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS areas and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1964. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial Technology from Pittsburg State University. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1970 and held the commission of Lt. J.G.

John was employed as a conductor for the M-K-T Railroad from 1971 until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Audubon Society and the Labette County Archery Club. He loved to ride motorcycles, bicycles, snow ski and water ski. He was very athletic and had participated in many triathlons in various places throughout the country.

On March 31, 1970 John and Betty L. Taylor were married in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Their 50th anniversary would be later this month.








Other survivors include two sons, Alan Noltensmeyer (Jutatip) of Overland Park and Dan Noltensmeyer (Candy) of Whittier, NC; two grandchildren, Alexandria Noltensmeyer and Titus Noltensmeyer; a brother, Tom Noltensmeyer of Sherman, TX and a sister, Mary Breneman of Manhattan.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, David Noltensmeyer and Joe Noltensmeyer.

A private funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tim Bever officiating. Friends are invited to gather in the church parking lot to honor John. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may stop by the Carson-Wall Funeral Home to sign the register between the hours of 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday.
