Edith Roberts

(From Carson-Wall Funeral Home)

Edith Stella (Wirz) Roberts, 91, of Parsons, passed away at 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society. She had been a resident there since July 8, 2013 after suffering a massive stroke.

She was born March 10, 1929 to Fredrick and Grace (Reeves) Wirz, southeast of Mooreland, OK in Woodward county. She attended Oak Grove Grade School and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1946.

On March 16, 1947 she and Vernon L. Roberts were married in Mooreland. They moved to Parsons in 1948 to join his parents in a farming and dairy operation. Together, they bought the Snyder-Cottengin Dairy northeast of Parsons. The dairy was renamed to Silver Maple Dairy which they operated for the next 40 years. They were proud of their Grade A Dairy and gave tours to school children complete with milk and cheese as a snack.

Edith was devoted to her farm life – whether milking the cows, driving a tractor, garden and yard work, or cooking a meal for her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed spoiling the grandkids with good meals. She was an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed word search puzzles. She was a kind and thoughtful person and always made time to do an act of kindness for someone.

She attended the former Open Bible church and later attended services at the Parsons Foursquare Church. She was a member of the Center Chapel Club and so enjoyed their monthly meetings to visit and fellowship with the neighborhood ladies.

She is survived by a son, Randy (Jolene) Roberts of Parsons, daughter, Roxie (Allen) Baker of Parsons, four grandchildren, Clayton (Kayla) Roberts of Parsons, Nathan Baker of Wichita, Wes (April) Roberts of Parsons and Nicole (Jeremy) Merz of Pleasant Hill, MO; 10 great grandchildren, Raegan and Kylie Roberts, Kennedi and Hadli Baker, Alyvia, Axel, Stella and Ava Roberts and Kallie and Owen Merz; a sister, June Haub of Ponca City, OK and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Vernon, on August 29, 1997, a sister, Isabelle Clayton and a brother, Kenneth Wirz.

A private funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Florence Espeseth officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends are welcome to stop by the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m, to 8 p.m. to sign the register.
