Ellen Titus

Ellen Louise Titus, 77, of Cherryvale, died at 6:25 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at her home. Death was unexpected.

She was born April 2, 1942, rural Cherryvale, to Alford E. and Mary Louise (McIntyre) Atherton. She grew up in the Cherryvale and Dennis areas and attended McKinley School in Cherryvale, Parsons Junior High School and Labette County Community High School, where she graduated from in 1960. Later she earned an A.A. degree from Labette Community College.

Ellen retired from U.S.D. 506 school district in 2007 after 31 years of service. She was a cook at the Mound Valley Grade School from 1976 to 1992 and was at the district office as food service coordinator from 1992 until her retirement. Earlier she was employed at the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company and the Frame Ladder Factory in Parsons.

She was a very active member of the Dennis United Methodist Church and the Dennis United Methodist Women, serving as church treasurer for several years. She also served as president and in other offices of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed genealogy and loved talking family history with everyone.

On August 25, 1967 she and Dale Lee Titus were married at Dennis and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2012.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Lori Ellen Conley and Robyn Louise Titus.










Surviving is a brother, John Atherton (Beth), of Bailey, Colorado; two children, Kenny Titus of Dennis and Kimberly Shrum of Cherryvale; seven grandchildren, Alesha Robb, Jeremy Caulkins (Tara), Kayla Robb Lopez (Alexander), Seth Caulkins (Kayla) and Anthony Robb (Haley), Sierra Brannon and Blake Morgan; 13 great-grandchildren, Mayleigh Smith, Maizen Smith, Zack Caulkins, Ariona Caulkins, Riley Caulkins, Juan Lopez, Alexander Lopez, Aizik Lopez, Karson Robb, Kameron Robb, Kauner Robb, Kaegan Robb and Emmitt Caulkins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Marty Warren officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, southwest of Dennis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday.
