Renola A. Schountz, 89, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Sunday, October 6, 2019, at her residence.
She was born March 16, 1930, at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Frank N. and Anna H. (Wilbert) Mertz.
On September 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Frank Schountz at the St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Chicopee, KS. He survives of the home.
Membership was held in the former St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Chicopee and currently at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one sister-in-law, Barbara Schountz of Pittsburg, KS and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Carl Mertz and four sisters, Mildred Bennett, Suzann Mertz, Floriene Paterson and Irene Magers.
A service for Mrs. Schountz is set for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family suggests memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
