Joan Marquardt

Joan Marquardt, 84, of Parsons, passed away at 11:24 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

She was born December 7, 1934 in Parsons to James “Tiny” and Mary (Gamblian) Lyles.

Joan grew up and attended schools in Parsons. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and maintaining her yard. Joan would support her family and friends as much as she could through any time or circumstance in their life.

She was a previous member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Erie and has recently been attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons where she enjoyed giving candy to the children who attend church.

Joan and Billy Dean Marquardt were married on August 11, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2018.








Survivors include two sons, Bradley Dean Marquardt, of Parsons and Mark A. Marquart, and his wife, Kim, of Parsons; seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; four sister, Suzie Smith of Daytona Beach, FL, Shirley Lyles, of Kansas City, MO, Joyce Jones, of Texas, Junie Shannon, of Liberty, Kansas; brothers in law, Wayne Marquardt, and his wife, Pat and Paul Marquardt, all of Parsons; sister in law, Dolores Stiles, of Thayer.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Hoppock, a brother, Harry Lyles, three sisters, Janet Lyles, Micky Stephan and Betty Driskell.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at their convenience.
