Mary McLean

Mary Lou (Gilliam) McLean, age 67, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2019, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.

Mary was born February 6, 1952 to the late Harold Arthur and Clarissa Mary Lavina (Prieur) Schultz in Flint, Michigan. She graduated High School in Michigan, and attended college for a period of time as well.

It was on August 18, 1973 that she married David McLean in Flint, and they spent the last 46 years loving each other. He survives, of the home. The couple moved to this area in April of 2009. She worked a few odd jobs over the years, but her most important role was as a homemaker, raising their five children. She was a gifted crafter, proficient in several hand arts such as crochet, knitting, ceramics, weaving, and painting to name a few. Additionally, Mary was a Mary Kay representative and was an excellent salesperson. She and David loved to ride motorcycles as well, often with friends.








Also surviving Mary are three sons: Chris McLean of Flint, MI; Wayne (wife Nikki) of North Branch, MI; and Andre McLean of the home; two daughters: Kim Cardoza of Flint, MI; and Angela Collier of Columbus, KS; four brothers: Joe Gilliam (wife Terese) of California; Harlan Gilliam (wife Joyce) of Owosso, MI; Delmar Gilliam of Arkansas; and Wayne Schultz (wife Denise) of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren, with "one in the basket."

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, KS. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the funeral home form 4:00-6:00 PM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 PM. Online condolences may be left for the family at derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
