Carolyn Harris

Carolyn Kay Harris, age 75 of Baxter Springs, passed away at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility at 7:15 PM on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Carolyn was born in Houston, MN on August 22, 1944 to Lauren Hargrove and Mary (Beach) Hargrove. She spent the majority of her childhood living in Minnesota, and later on the family farm in Gravette, AR, before moving to the 4-State area in 1989. 

After receiving her high school education and an Associates Degree in Business, she spent her adult life working as a truck driver, retiring in the mid-1990’s. During her free time, she enjoyed knitting and gardening. Her favorite title was “Grandma”. She was full of sass, and full of life.

Carolyn was united in marriage with Dempsey Harris on March 23, 1982 in Miami, OK. He survives.








Additional survivors include two sons, Randy Eaton of Houston, MN, and Samuel Eaton of Denver, CO; two step-children, Jeremiah Harris of Miami, OK, and Dalice Harris (husband, Charles Krueger) of Baxter Springs, KS; two brothers, Arden Hargrove (wife, Marge) of Houston, MN, and Al Hargrove of the State of Florida; one sister, Averle Hargrove-Myers of Fayetville, AR; as well as 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Douglas Eaton; a daughter, Edwina Snaza; a son, Charles Eaton; and a great-granddaughter, Kimber Tunnell.

Mrs. Harris has been entrusted to Derfelts Baxter Chapel for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Derfelts Baxter Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
