Kevin Mabrey

Kevin Paul Mabrey, 56, former Parsons resident, died Friday, August 23, 2019 in Austin, Texas.

He was born October 5, 1962 in Naperville, Illinois to Edward and Rosemary (Egan) Mabrey. He moved to Kansas with his parents at the age of 5 and attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1980.

He was involved in Parsons Community Children’s Theatre and Community Theatre, was active in the Student Council, Select Choir, Forensics, Drama Club, Music Company, Advanced Band, Honors Orchestra and other activities. He performed in “Don’t Drink the Water: as Alex McGee and performed in the musicals “Oklahoma” and “Matchmaker”.

After graduating from Parsons High School he attended Wichita State University School of Performing Arts. Later he transferred to the Department of Theatre and Dance at the College of Fine Arts, University of Texas at Austin, Texas. He spent the last many years living, working and loving life near the Colorado River in Austin. Kevin was an avid bicyclist and had many close friends across the globe.








Surviving are brothers Frank Mabrey (Mary), of Charlotte, NC, Mike Mabrey (Ruth) of Battleground, WA, Brad Jay (Donna) of Parsons, Gary Jay of Parsons, Curtis Mabrey of Springfield, MO; sisters Lisa (Jay) Adams (Mike) of Parsons and Pilar Mabrey of Parsons; four nephews, nine nieces and 12 great-nephews and great-nieces.

Preceding him in death were his parents and step-mother, Juanita Mabrey; and two sisters, Virginia Ann “Ginny” Mabrey and Julie Ann Jay.

There will be an informal come and go reception, in his memory, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, September 14, at the Wall Family Center, 2605 Main, Parsons, Kansas. The family encourages online messages to be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com.
