Alice Jeanine “Jean” Morey, age 89 of Galena, passed away at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.
Jean was born in Neosho, MO on August 23, 1930 to the union of Gordon Edson and Mary (Smith) Edson. She had lived in Galena most of her life, and worked mainly in the home. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and hunting mushrooms, and was also talented in poetry, having many of her writing published in the Galena Sentinel.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Marsha Ray (husband, Richard) of Greenfield, MO; one sister, Shirley Eddy (husband, Paul Dean); one half-brother, Jim Moss (wife, Sharon Potter-Moss); as well as 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sheryl Leveret; and two grandchildren.
Ms. Morey has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
