Clara Herndon

Clara L. (Scott) Herndon, 84, of Parsons, and a former Ottawa and Olathe resident passed away at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

She was born on March 29, 1935 at Creighton, Missouri to Ernest and Eula Irene (Sheets) Chapman. She grew up at Creighton and attended schools there.

She and Allen H. Scott were married in May of 1953 at Creighton. He preceded her in death October of 2008. She then married James “Jim” Herndon in 2010 at Ottawa. He survives of the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

Clara lived in Lees Summit, MO briefly before moving to Olathe where she was a homemaker and worked at a Gibson’s Store. She later moved to Ottawa and then to Parsons in 2018.
Clara was active was an active person with many interests. She enjoyed cooking for others, sharing recipes, and caring for her family. She attended the Faith Baptist Church while living in Olathe.








In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Pam Fincher, and her husband, Rick of Parsons; her stepson; two stepdaughters; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Quillin of Belton, MO. In addition to her first husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Roberta Irene Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Darren Dusher officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery at rural Parsons. Friends may call the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at their convenience. Memorials are suggested to the Berean Baptist Church and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 112 N. 26th St., P.O.
