Gloria Mae Hambleton, age 77, passed away at 8:08 pm, Friday, September 20, 2019 at Oswego Health and Rehab, Oswego, KS following an illness.
Gloria was born April 10, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA and spent her early years in the Mound Valley KS area. She married John H Hambleton on November 24, 1958 in Bartlesville, OK and became a serviceman’s wife. Living wherever her husband was stationed, including Hawaii and North Carolina before returning to Independence. He survives.
She attended the Mound Valley Lighthouse Church. Gloria was also an accomplished artist creating cartoon drawings. Her pride and joy were her family, especially all the grandchildren, and her min-pins.
Surviving are three sons, Jimmy Hambleton (Janet), Champaign, IL, Ricky Hambleton (Linda), Mohomet, IL, and Rodney Hambleton, Independence, KS; three daughters, Annette Kellogg (Rocky), Parsons, KS, Teresa Lopez (Raphael), Coffeyville, KS, and Tracy Britt (Earl), Independence, KS; one sister, Donna Banning (Roger), Oswego, KS; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Wilma (Duft) Merrick, brother Darrell Merrick and sisters Sharon Merrick and Rose Marie Merrick.
She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego, KS for cremation. No services are planned.
