Bob Schofield

Bob Schofield, 84, of Parsons, passed away at 9:49 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born on November 20, 1934 at Parsons to Ernest Theodore and Edith Lucille (Sutton) Schofield. He grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools graduating from Parsons High School in 1953.

Bob served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 earning the rank of Private First Class prior to his honorable discharge.








He returned to Parsons where he and Leona Pearce were united in marriage on November 17, 1956 at the EUB Church Parsonage. She survives of the home.

Bob worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 38 years retiring as Maintenance Supervisor in 1994. In his retirement years he stayed active doing handyman and home improvement work. He and Leona moved to Grove, Oklahoma to live on Grand Lake in 2000 and returned to Parsons in 2014.

Bob was an avid woodworker and enjoyed fishing, boating, and the outdoors. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons, the Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117 A.F. &A.M., and a lifetime member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Parsons.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his four daughters, Terri Lease-Crager of Tulsa, OK, Karen Keith, and her husband, Grady of Lake Village, AR, Carol Strathe, and her husband, Brad of Manhattan, KS, and Robyn Thomas of Parsons; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Schofield and Ernest Schofield; his sister, Pauline Schofield.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons with Pastor Pat McReynolds officiating with military honors conducted by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars following the service. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday morning. Burial will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery later.
