Mary Miller

Mary Miller, age 87, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother joined her heavenly father at 6:05 pm, Sunday, February 3, 2019 at home surrounded by family.

She was born January 30, 1932 in Iola Kansas, the daughter of Martha and Samuel Tinsley.

Mary Louise Tinsley and George H. Miller were united in marriage May 15, 1952 at Olathe, Kansas. He preceded in death on May 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Levi, sisters Grace and Martha and daughter-in-law Linda.

Survivors include her daughter Karen Johnson and son Larry Miller of Galena Kansas. She had nine grandchildren Brandon (Stidham) Kara (Stidham) North Ashley (Gerleman) Johnson Austin Johnson Angie (Miller) Strup Shane Miller Tara (Miller) Bailey Lauren Miller (Knight) Jared Miller; 21 great grandchildren. One brother Joseph and three sisters Eva, Bettie, Irene, and Majorie.

Mary was a baptized member of the First Christian Church in Galena, Kansas. She was a Sunday School and VBS teacher.

Mary’s favorite pastimes included playing games like skip bo and dominoes with friends and family and using these times to build strong loving relationships with each person she encountered in her final years. Mary found it very important to keep her mind sharp with daily crosswords and was an avid bingo player weekly. Family get-together‘s will never be the same without her kindness, compassion, and support will live on in all of us.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 7:30pm, Tuesday, February 4 at Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the first Christian Church in Galena, Kansas. Pastor David Schepper will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, Kansas.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Stidham, Austin Johnson, Shane Miller, Jared Miller, Ross Bailey and Kyle Knight. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan North, Jeremy Strup, and James Gerleman T

Memorial contributions can be made to the Christian Church of Galena, Kansas
