Marcheta Vickers

Marcheta Vickers, 83, of Pittsburg, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Via Christi Village, where she had been a resident for the past six years.

She was born April 16, 1935, the daughter of David and Muriel (Reiter) Algrim. She grew up in Stafford County, Kansas and graduated from Stafford High School.

On March 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jerry Vickers at the Bethel Church of Christ in Stafford, Kansas. They later moved to Anthony, Kansas, where they lived until they moved to Pittsburg in 1973.

Mrs. Vickers worked for the Census Bureau for a short time, before opening a daycare in her home for newborns to one year old, which she operated for several years.

Membership was held in the Pittsburg Church of Christ.







Survivors include, a daughter, Ronda Fincher of Pittsburg; a son, Jeff Vickers and his wife, Debra of Overland Park, Kansas; a sister, Cheryl Clayton of Newton, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Jared Vickers and Joshua Vickers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Jerry.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Pittsburg Church of Christ. Private family burial will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Stroke Association. These may be left at the church or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
