Robert LeRoy Thomas, age 64, passed away at 11:33 am, Monday, May 4, 2020 in Miami, OK following an illness.
Robert was born January 16, 1956 in Joplin, MO. He was a lifetime resident of Galena. He attended Galena Schools with the class of 1974. He was a well-known musician, playing drums in several area venues. His other interests included fishing and baseball. He volunteered as a coach for the Galena Youth Baseball program for a number of years. Robert was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church, Galena, KS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Poole, one daughter, Stephanie Johnson, his grandparents, Hershel and Truie Thomas, two sisters, Patricia Wooden and Ellen Hall, and one brother, Billy Taylor.
Robert was married to Debbie Sharbutt in 1983 in Miami, OK.
Robert is survived by two sons, Jason (wife, Jenn) Sharbutt and Robert “Bobby Lee” (wife, Tabitha) Thomas, all of Miami, OK; two daughters, JaCinda (husband, Frank) McGuire, Virginia Beach, VA and Jessieca Thomas, Miami, OK; one brother, William Poole, Baxter Springs, KS; one sister Peggy Taylor, Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren, Jayden Faircloth, Jaylee Faircloth, Christian McGuire, Treyson Sharbutt, Chloe McGuire, Dylan Hodgell, Jared Alspaugh, Asalee West, and Broden West; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family will hold a celebration of life gathering at a later date.
