Judith "Judy" Ann LaTurner Gourley, age 72, Galena, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her home.
Judy was born February 21, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late Paul LaTurner and Catherine McMillan LaTurner. Judy graduated from Galena High School in 1966, and later earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State University. She worked for years as a waitress, and later a nurse's aide before earning her degree and teaching at Labette Community College for 15 years in the Psychology Department before retiring.
She was very proud of her home town of Galena. She enjoyed her time with the Galena Genealogy Club, was a former member of the Galena City Council, and was currently attending Christpoint Church of Galena.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack Gourley, who passed away on March 2, 2017.
Survivors include her daughters, Milissa Weidman and husband Steve of Houston, Texas, and Marla Gourley of Galena; grandchildren, Matthew Weidman of Seattle, Washington, and Kristen Weidman of Houston, Texas; brother, Robert LaTurner of Galena; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at her church in Galena.
Family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Christpoint Church, Galena, Kansas in memory of Judy.
