Deborah Burns

Deborah A. Burns, 63, of Pittsburg, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born January 24, 1957 in Pittsburg the daughter of Donald and Carolyn Owen Martin. She had lived in Weir, KS, Baxter Springs, KS and for the past two years in Pittsburg. She graduated from Pittsburg State University with her master’s degree in education.

She married Timothy P. Burns on June 9, 1979 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS. He survives at the home in Pittsburg, KS.

Mrs. Burns taught at Lincoln Elementary School in Parsons, KS from 1979 to 1981, at the Scammon Elementary School from 1981 to 1984 and at Riverton Middle School from 1994 to 2017.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS.








Survivors in addition to her husband Tim include two daughters Abbey Beezley and her husband Tim of Weir, KS, and Bethany Schultz and her husband Jeremy of Crestline, KS, her sister Mary Burke and her husband Dennis of Pittsburg, four grandchildren including Noah Shultz, Jude Shultz, Caroline Beezley, Anna Beezley, and her uncle John Martin and his wife Diane of Blackhawk, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Wednesday, May 13, 2020 with Father Jorge Lopez, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in Scammon, KS. The parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. 

Pallbearers will be Evan Burke, Martin Burke, Jeremy Shultz, Tim Beezley, Zachary Williams, and Alan Martin. Friends may call any time after 2 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the funeral home. 

A memorial has been established to the Our Lady of Lourdes Adoration Chapel in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at our web site www.bathnaylor.com.
