Nadine Smith

Nadine Smith, 87, of Galesburg, died at 5:23 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

She was born July 20, 1931, near Buffalo in Wilson County, to James R. and Esther (Wilson) Stierwalt. She grew up near and in Chanute and attended Chanute High School.

On August 15, 1948 she and James D. Smith were married at the First Methodist Church in Chanute. They made their home in Galesburg after their marriage and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2014.

Nadine was Neosho County Register of Deeds for eight years and had worked in that office for twenty years, retiring on January 13, 1997.

She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women.








Surviving are two sons, Lonnie Smith (Laura) of Parsons and Kendall Smith (Debbie) of rural Galesburg; a daughter, Barbara Hanson (Raymond) of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; three-great-great grandchildren; one brother, Larry Stierwalt of the Seattle, WA area. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Raphael Stierwalt, Jr and one sister – Patricia Rise.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Galesburg United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mark Demas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Galesburg. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME at Parsons. Memorials are suggested to the Galesburg United Methodist Church U.M.W.
