Janet Kay Calahan, age 60, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born October 30, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of the late Harold and Betty (Booth) Griggs.
Janet was a 1977 graduate of Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas and was a pre-school teacher at Granny’s Schoolhouse in Louisburg, Kansas.
Janet is survived by her two daughters, Kim Sharp and her husband, Jeff, of Mt. Vernon and Amanda Lee and her husband, Caleb, of Galena, Kansas; two sons, Brandon Calahan and his wife, Rozetta, of Butler, Missouri and Jeremy Calahan of Pittsburgh, Kansas; six grandchildren, Ashley Jellison, Rianne Sharp, Logan Sharp, Elijah Lee, Ezra Lee and Makenzie Lee; two sisters, Carol Sellers of Basehor, Kansas and Barbara Livingston and her husband, Jim, of Bonner Springs, Kansas and one brother, Donald Griggs of Basehor, Kansas
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
