James N “Jim” Boyes., age 82 passed away at 11:10 am Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Quaker Hill Manor following an illness.
He was born December 13, 1935 in Galena, KS. His parents were Charley and Lucille (Long) Boyes. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He was a cabinet maker, and long-time farmer. He also worked several years as a rural mail carrier out of the Galena Post Office. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite entertainment was watching old western movies and reading.
Jim was married to Erma May Angel on June 8, 1956 in Galena, KS. She survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Cindy Boyes, Galena, KS, one son, Scott Boyes (wife, Kellie), Galena, KS; three grandsons, Andrew Boyes (wife, Desiree), Austin Boyes (wife, Kayleigh), and Ethan Boyes (wife, Lacey); and seven great-grandchildren, Eric, Gavin, Rachel, Paige, Colton, Mason, and Allison.
He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena for cremation.
The family will hold a Memorial Service 11:00 am, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Galena KS. Pastor Jeff Swart and Pastor Paul Mooney will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Galena, KS.
