Audrey Tewell

Audrey L. Tewell, 92, of Pittsburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital. 

She was born August 30, 1925, in Rural Parsons, KS, to Verlyn Enoch and Flossie Marie (Morgan) Richardson. 

In 1946 she met Dan Jean Tewell, the speech teacher and debate coach at PHS. They married on July 15, 1947. Audrey completed her nurse's training at Mercy Hospital in Parsons, Kansas in 1946. She was a cadet nurse during World War II. She worked as a registered nurse at Pittsburg State University Health Center for over 30 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church, and was involved in a number of service organizations when she was younger, including, Chapter C.J. PEO, Friday Study Club, Little Balkans Quilt Guild, and Presbyterian Sewing Circle.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Henderson of Southlake, TX, and Cindy Shay and her husband Norm of Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Vera Aronhalt and Katherine Moses of Parsons, KS; and 3 grandchildren, Dan McNally and his wife Courtney and their two children, Sloan and Canon of Pittsburg, KS, Pat McNally and his wife Amber and their two children Finn and Dawson of St. Louis, MO, and Webb Henderson and his fiancée, Alison, of Denver, CO. She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Helen Peckham and two brothers, Bob Richardson and David Richardson.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at The Presbyterian Church with Pastor K.O. Noonoo officiating. A private burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. The family suggests memorials to the The Presbyterian Church.
