Sue Walls

Catherine “Sue” Walls, 80, of Parsons, passed away at 1:54 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.

She was born on July 20, 1938 in Walnut, Kansas to Violet June (Zimmerman) and George A. Stelljes.

Sue worked at Owen’s Drug store, Wagon Wheel Café, Sunset Nursing Home and on August 23, 1966 she started working at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center as a Mental Health Technician II. She retired after 321/2 years of employment.

She and John Henry (Buck) Daugherty were married on March 27, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1977. She and Paul J. Lopez were later married and he preceded her in death. Sue and Oscar J. Walls were later married and he also preceded her in death.

Catherine loved nature and the outdoors, helping people and animals and had a very caring nature for those in need. She enjoyed family, friends, fishing, sewing, coin collecting, book collecting and reading. 








Survivors include two grandsons she raised, Trent Leroy Thomas of Caney, Kansas and Travis Levi Thomas of Parsons; grandchildren, Ben Daugherty and Dustin Daugherty both of Parsons and John Daugherty and Zoe Vogel both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Daugherty; two daughters, Peggy Jo (Daugherty) Curtis and Lynn Sue (Daugherty) Thomas; grandson, Donald Dean Curtis, Jr.; a brother, John Earl Stelljes and a sister Elsa Llene Stelljes.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be later in East Bethany Cemetery.

Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
