Anne Cox

Anne B Cox, age 85, passed away at 11:52 am, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Galena Nursing Center, following an illness.

Anne was born July 1, 1933 in Galena, KS. Her parents were Harvey J and Bessie Mae (Huffman) Watson. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.

She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1951. She then completed some courses at the Apostolic Faith Bible College, Baxter Springs, KS. As a young lady, she worked at Vogel’s Ben Franklin Store in Galena. She retired after working several years in the laundry department at Galena Manor.

She was a long-time member of Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS where she taught the children’s Sunday school class. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She enjoyed cooking, and sewing where she made blankets and clothing, and reading her Bible. She was a wonderful homemaker, caring for her kids, grandkids, and neighborhood children.

Anne was married to William D “Bill” Cox on August 2, 1952 in Columbus, KS. He passed away April 21, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Grace Poelma, Lyla Asbell, and Marie Arehart, and one brother, Harvey Watson Jr.

Surviving are 4 sons, Duane Cox (wife, Pam), West Milton, OH, Bryan Cox (wife, Donna) Galena, Kevin Cox (wife, Carla) Galena, and Kyle Cox (wife, Tammy), Columbus, KS; one daughter, Sheryl Robinson (husband, Jimmy) Galena; 2 brothers, Henry Watson (wife, Elaine) Frontenac, KS, and Homer Watson (wife, Debbie) San Antonio, TX; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS. Joel Dorris will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Grove Apostolic Faith Church, Galena, KS
