Treva Gray

Treva Littrell Gray was born March 18, 1929 at Ozro, KS. to parents Ordie C. Littrell and Flora Edna McCall Littrell. Treva grew up in Cedar Vale, KS where she attended school and graduated from Cedar Vale High School, Class of 1948. She was active in high school and loved being in plays. She worked as a cashier at Adams Grocery Store. Growing up she had pet lamb and loved animals. She married George A. Carter on May 14, 1948 and of this union were two daughters, Gwen and Joyce. The couple later divorced and in September 1986 she married Fred Gray. The couple resided in Neodesha, KS but traveled the entire United States, along with, Mexico and Canada. The couple later moved to Eufaula, OK where they enjoyed their home on the lake. They then moved to Columbus where they enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

Treva had many talents including sewing and playing the piano. She made countless clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. She made doll clothes and many other crafting projects. Her love of music showed in the collections of records and her ability to sit down and play a tune on the piano. She put that talent to use as the piano player at her church in Eufaula. Treva was a talented cook and loved to entertain, enjoyed the moments she could use her much loved dishes. She was always a hard worker and held positions of dental assistant and insurance clerk for a medical office.

Treva loved her cats and they loved her.

Her husband preceded her in death along with her parents and brother, Richard Littrell. Treva is survived by daughters Gwen Martin, husband Neil, of Columbus, KS and Joyce Kay Wright, husband Ralph, of Chanute, KS. Granddaughter Mandy Martin Andris, husband Tim, of Bluejacket, OK, Grandson Nick Martin, wife Christina, of Baxter Springs, KS. Grandson Nathan Wright, wife Savannah, of Kansas City, MO. Sister-in-law Joyce Littrell of Cedar Vale, KS. Two nieces Michelle Kelley, husband Pat, of Cedar Vale, KS and Tera Cox, husband Whitney, of Arkansas City, KS. She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 30, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Gary Yurk will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, rural Columjbus, KS.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Monday Jan 30, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sherwin Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
