Charles Barnes

Charles Allen Barnes 94, of Weir, KS died 11:12am Saturday January 28, 2017 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus, KS following an illness.

Allen was born August 2, 1922 in Douglas, NE the son of Charles B. and Ethel M. (Manning) Barnes.

Allen was a veteran of the Navy, serving his country during World War II.
 
On October 5, 1947 Allen married Maggie D. Miller in Frontenac, KS; she preceded him in death on August 24, 2006. Allen worked as an Electronic Engineer for many years for various companies.
Charles was of the Christian Faith; loved to travel, visiting the zoo, museums, art galleries, antiquing, going to the lake, water skiing, senior citizens’ dinners at Weir, KS and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his children Susan J. Haynes and husband John of Shawnee, KS, Joyce A. Nickle and husband Wayne of Winfield, KS and Mark A. Barnes and wife Sue Ann of Weir, KS; grandchildren Jeffrey Haynes, David Haynes, Shawn Thomson, Holly Thomson, Amanda Barnes, Nathan Barnes and great-grandchildren twins Addi and Gracie Thomson.
 
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 10 brothers and sisters and an infant son Craig A. Barnes.

Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS with Pastor Aaron Williams officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00pm Monday February 6, 2017 at the Dunlap Cemetery in Dunlap, KS. Family will receive friends from 1-2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials can be made in care of the Weir Senior Citizens Center. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 W. Main St. Weir, KS 66781.
