Jamie Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis, age 23, passed away at 7:19 pm, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, KS following a sudden illness.

Jamie was born September 27, 1993 in Pittsburg, KS. His parents were James W and Jennifer L (Harper) Curtis. He had lived in Weir most of his life.
He graduated from Southeast High School, Cherokee, KS with the Class of 2012. He was employed at RAHE Construction as a foreman, a job he had held for 5 years. He had also worked a year at the Cherokee County Law Enforcement Center, Columbus, KS.

Jamie served the City of Weir as Fire Chief, a position he had held since 2014. He has been a member of the Weir Fire Dept. since 2011. He was also a member of the Fire Fighters Association in Emporia, KS. He enjoyed fishing. His greatest joy was caring for his two sons.

Jamie was married to Autumn Dusk Reagan on May 4, 2013 in Weir, KS. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Gunner Curtis and Gavin Curtis, both of the home; his father, James Curtis, Weir; his mother, Jennifer Gibson (husband, Terry), Lewis, KS; two brothers, Josh Reynolds, and Woody Reynolds, both of Lewis; two step-brothers, Garrett Gibson, Lewis, and Brier Martin, Columbus; one step-sister, Felicia Ward (husband, Thomas), Lewis; and his grandfather, Don Curtis, Weir.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus. Aaron Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Hosey Hill Cemetery, Weir.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
