Shirley Dayton

Shirley Ann Dayton, 85, of Pittsburg, died January 5, 2017 at Golden Living in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born January 29, 1931 in Pittsburg the daughter of Raymond and Edna Miller Ryan. She had lived in Pittsburg for her entire life. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Pittsburg and attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth for two years.

She married Gene Paul Dayton on October 10, 1953 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. He died on February 6, 1985.

Mrs. Dayton was a homemaker and mother her entire life.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and was active with the adoration chapel in Frontenac, KS.

Survivors include one daughter Patty Harbour of Lake Quivira, KS, three sons Tom Dayton of Pittsburg, Dan Dayton of Indianapolis, Indiana and Gene “Putzer” Dayton of Pittsburg, one brother Ray Ryan of Pittsburg and one sister Meg Clugston of Tulsa, OK, five grandchildren Casey Harbour of Wichita, Meaghan Dayton of Houston, TX, Conner Dayton of Pittsburg, Maria Clare Dayton of Indianapolis and Drew Dayton of Pittsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother James Ryan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Michael Baldwin, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 6 pm Friday January 6, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. The family will receive their friends after the rosary service until 8 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to St. Mary’s-Colgan Schools or Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at our web site www.bathnaylor.com
