Remo Crosetto

Remo Crosetto, 95, of Scammon, KS, died January 26, 2017 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born March 30, 1921 in Radley, KS the son of Alex and Rosa Crosetto. He had lived for most of his life in the Scammon area. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1939 and attended the Pittsburg Business College for two years.

Mr. Crosetto was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army.

He married Christine Favero on June 15, 1947 in Scammon, KS. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2007.

Mr. Crosetto worked at the Jayhawk Chemical Plant in Riverton, KS for many years, until his retirement in 1986. The plant was also known previously as Spencer Chemical and Gulf Chemical, when Remo was employed at the plant.

He was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS. Avid hunter, gardener, and trainer of pointer bird dogs. 

Survivors include four nephews Bob Mitchell of Girard, Don DeGruson of Kechi, KS, Darin DeGruson of Spring Valley, Wisconsin and Jim Mitchell of Frontenac, one niece Debra White of Olathe, KS and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Christine, parents, one brother Al Crosetto, two sisters Bea Mitchell and Jean Crosetto.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS with Father Jeremy Huser, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. The Kansas Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team will conduct military rites at the graveside. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon. The family will receive their friends after the rosary service at the church. Pallbearers will be Don DeGruson, Darin DeGruson, Jim Mitchell, Bob Mitchell, John Ison and Don Kalusha. Friends may also call from noon to 5 pm Sunday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS or mass stipends. Memorials may be left at the church or the funeral home.
